Video showng the history and precepts of Freemasonry

Freemasons are from all walks of life, all professions and businesses.
They come from a wide variey of backgrounds and place.
They all have one thing in common :
The acceptence of othe Masons as Brothers.
It is a special brotherhood - rather like an extended family.
Many leaders of the past 30 years have been Masons.
Their traditions have had the efffect of making them bettenr leaders
Freemasonry originally dates back to the building of the Temple of King Solomon
Ths was in 1000 bc but the History of Modern Freemasonry dates back to the Middle Ages when Stone Masons
had Guilds which protected their secrets.
Masons were the only people with the skills to build big beautiful buildings safely using monumental blocks of stone without cement.
This skill was a jealously guarded secret as was the ability to build a large Cathedral from a small drawing
using Geometry.
Even the people who employed Stone Masons - the priests, Kings and Nobles - were not told the secrets.
These were not only important skills but they were essential to build large buildings safely.
Guilds trained Masons to high standards and insisted on the secrecy being observed.

In the Age of Enlightenment, a group of Philosophers saw that there was an ideal metaphor in the traditions of the Stone Mason for the building of the Character of men.
These men would be strong, well balanced  and with a strength of character as strong as the Cathedrals
of old.
By the early 1799s Masonry changed a great deal - from Operative Masons who actually still built
buildings of stone into a Society of Speculative Masons who were dedicated to taking good men
 and making them even better.
The Fraternity of Free and Accepted Freemasons has been an integral part of the civilised World and was a very important part of American Society
long before America took up arms against the crown in 1776.
America as a Nation was greatly influenced by and interwoven with Masoic History.
This is an illustration of Masonic Traditions and Values at work.
The ideals of Tolerance,Faith Charity and resposibility and the belief in the intrinsic
quality and goodness of Man were carved into the foundation of the Nation by men who first learned to practice them in a Lodge.
Men Like George Washington,Ben Franklin and John Hancock and James Monroe were all Masons.
Nine Freemasons signed the Declaration of Independence and Ten signed the Constitution.
14 US Presidents have been Masons.
Masons help each other in mans ways - as a social outlet,in business networking and as mentors.
THey also help each other on a personal level.
Freemasons hold true to a set of timeless values.
These enduring Tenentsguide mens lives by taking good men and making them bettwr men by holding true to :
Brotherly Love
Relief
Truth
These tenents are a Daily Guide for living rather than just characters on a page.
They are designed to make men better family men, professionals and better citizens.
The Masonic Fraternity also develops leadership skills and abilities withinmembers.
Members can hone their skills by serving as Lodge Officers, mentor and Commitee Leaders.
Masonry also provides opportunities for further involvement which are both fun and rewarding.
BUT WHAT DO MASONS DO ?
They meet in a Lodge.A Lodge is a specific place designed for their ceremonies or rituals.
They are taught the Precpts of Freemasonry by means of a series of Ritual Dramas,These feature
ancient Forms and use Freemasons Customs and Tools as allegorical guides.
These Rituals are called Degrees.
In a Masonic Lodge a man must complete Three Degreesbefore he can become a full member.
Just as in the medieval Guilds he is  initiated as an Inner Apprentice
Then he is passed to the Degree of Fellow Craft and then passed to the degree of Master Mason.
Once the Mason becomes a Master Mason in his Home Lodge he can enjoy further brotherhood
in other Masonic Organisations.
These are known as Appended Bodies.
These Include :
               The Scottish Rite
               The York Rite
               The Shrine )The Shriners)
Some Appended Bodies have expanded to include increaing leadership abilities, Charitable and Philanthropic activities.
